Clearwater business briefs

BookKeeping Express, a U.S. franchise focused solely on bookkeeping services, opened its first office in Clearwater, serving businesses throughout the Tampa Bay area.
“Our service helps to alleviate a void that exists locally for skilled bookkeeping services that are specifically focused on the business community,” said Carlos Diaz, owner of the new BookKeeping Express office in Clearwater. “BookKeeping Express has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, and its proven business model will provide us with the marketing and operations support we need to help grow the business, thus allowing us to help our clients grow theirs.”

Diaz, a 25-year Tampa Bay resident, holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Oklahoma State University. After college, he played professional baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays. After his professional baseball career, Diaz earned his CPA license and joined an international shipping company out of Tampa, where he developed and led a global business unit. He then joined a Hong Kong-based logistics company, managing its U.S. and Latin American offices with more than 100 employees. He has also obtained business coaching certification.

BookKeeping Express’ services include setting up charts of accounts and general ledgers, monthly data entry, processing and managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, producing monthly reports and tax reporting. Also offered is the BKE Connect system, which allows businesses access to all bookkeeping files remotely through an outside server.

Diaz and his wife, Lori, are supporters of various charities and members of nonprofit organizations such as the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association and the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce. They have two children.
